From the beginning our program has sought to be transparent. We are a grassroots organization comprised of "neighbors helping neighbors." Our work is regularly reviewed by a number of organizations. We follow the "Guiding Principles" of Elderberry Institute, a resource center for Living At Home/Block Nurse Programs operating in Minnesota. Click on this link for more information: www.elderberry.org
We are listed with www.minnesotahelp.info which is the Senior Linkage and Disability linkage service connection in Minnesota and the United Way 2-1-1 system in Central Minnesota.
Our work is regularly reviewed by Stearns County Human Services since we have a contract with them to provide home and community-based services, by the State of Minnesota since we have been recipients of some state funding through Community Service/Service Development (CS/SD) grants in the past, and by the Central Minnesota Council On Aging (www.cmcoa.org) who administer the Older Americans Act funding.
We have also received funding from a number of private and corporate funders like the Otto Bremer Foundation, PreventionMinnesota, and The Initiative Foundation (www.ifound.org) for our health promotion activitites. Our financial information and IRS forms 990 are available for review at www.guidestar.org.
In 2006 we were happy to be recognized by the Charities Review Council of Minnesota which we renewed in March 2009. We are listed at their web site at www.smartgivers.org. Their statement accompanying the recognition said: "Your commitment to accountability as an area of best practice for your organization was like music to our ears. We really appreciate the work you did to meet the standards. It speaks well of your organization's dedication to the people that you serve that you would take the time to address accountability issues."
